Dick Enberg to be Honored at
LA Sports & Entertainment Commission’s
7 th Annual Golf Classic
LOS ANGELES – March 13, 2006--- Dick Enberg , one of the most honored and respected of all sports broadcasters, will be honored by the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) at its 7 th Annual Golf Classic at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades on Monday, May 15.
Enberg, whose trademark call of “Oh My!” has thrilled several generations of sports fans, will be presented with the prestigious LASEC Sports & Entertainment Ambassador Award of Excellence in honor of his many accomplishments in sports and in the community. He will receive his LASEC award during the reception and dinner festivities following the completion of the golf tournament.
A limited number of spaces are still available for players interested in participating in the tournament, which will be a scramble format. Sponsorships start at $2,500 for an individual player, $9,000 for team foursomes and corporate sponsorships are $13,500. The Presenting Sponsorship is also available. The day at The Riviera includes golf clinics and contests, lunch, the tournament, a reception and buffet dinner, silent auction and awards and trophy presentations.
Net proceeds benefit LASEC, a private, nonprofit organization and an affiliate of LA INC. The Convention and Visitors Bureau.

An Emmy winning sportscaster, writer and producer, Enberg’s broadcasting career has spanned over 40 years. Enberg has long been known as one of the most versatile and popular play-by-play announcers in the business. Several generations of Southern Californians grew up to his play-by-play calls when he served as the voice of the Los Angeles Rams, the then-California Angels and UCLA. He then went on to become NBC’s top play-by play announcer and has taken on assignments including the Olympic Games; college and NBA basketball; golf, including the U.S. Open, The PGA Championship and The Masters; tennis, including Wimbledon and the French Open; horse racing, including The Breeders’ Cup; heavyweight boxing and baseball. During his illustrious career, Enberg has also been one of the all-time best NFL and college football play-by-play announcers. His football body of work has included eight Super Bowls and nine Rose Bowl games. In 1973 Enberg became the first U.S. sportscaster to visit the People’s Republic of China.
He has also hosted the long-running national series “Sports Challenge” and was co-producer of the Emmy Award-winning PBS series “The Way It Was.”
Currently with CBS, having switched from NBC in 2000, Enberg now calls CBS NFL and college basketball games, along with the U.S. Open tennis tournament. He also contributes to coverage of The Masters and PGA Championship golf.
Prior to his sportscasting career, he was an assistant professor and assistant baseball coach at California State University at Northridge. Since 1985, Enberg has served as the spokesperson for the Academic All-America program, which recognizes the academic and athletic achievements of more than 700 student athletes each year.
Enberg has earned many awards and honors over the years, including 13 Emmy Awards (also a Lifetime Achievement Emmy), the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Pete Rozelle Award, the Basketball Hall of Fame’s Curt Gowdy Award, nine National Sportscaster of the Year awards, four California Sportscaster of the Year awards and a tar on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is also the author of two best-sellers, Dick Enberg’s Humorous Quotes for All Occassions and Dick Enberg Oh My!.
