Verizon will Support the Los Angeles Region Efforts to Host High-Profile Sports and Entertainment Events
The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) has officially signed on Verizon, one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, as their newest corporate partner. Under this new partnership, Verizon will provide financial commitment to reinforce LASEC’s bidding efforts for major events and support programs such as Business Connect, Professional Development Program (PDP) Summit and community legacy programs through the internationally renowned sports and entertainment events taking place in Los Angeles.
“The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission is committed to generating economic, cultural, and social impact for the region by attracting and securing high-profile sports and entertainment events in Los Angeles,” said Kathryn Schloessman, President & CEO, Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission. “We look forward to working alongside the Verizon team to continue to elevate our region’s hosting potential for major events.”
“Verizon’s partnership with the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission allows us to drive social impact and to deliver reliable connectivity to sports venues across the city and county. We’ve been paving the way for the installation of Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband service in key venues, hotels, and strategic locations. Verizon utilizes 5G to unlock advancements that could have the ability to impact management, scouting, training, health and safety, and game day operations,” said Jesús G. Román, Head of State Regulatory and Government Affairs for Southern California, Verizon. “Verizon’s innovations bring fans closer to the game through constant enhancements in 5G connectivity that transform not only the fan experience, but also player training, field communication capabilities, and overall venue operations. I am excited to join the LASEC Advisory Board and be part of the long tradition in Los Angeles of hosting marquee sports events.”
Building on this partnership, Verizon provided a grant to the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission to support the organization’s workforce development efforts. This includes the LASEC Professional Development Program Summit, a free seminar that prepares selected students for career paths in the Los Angeles sport industry, and other legacy initiatives connected to major events hosted in the Los Angeles region.
“At Verizon, we’re committed to supporting communities across the country with the resources necessary to compete in today’s workforce,” said Rudy Reyes, West Region Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Verizon. “With our support, we hope to assist the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission in its mission of cultivating the skills, training and personal growth necessary for young professionals and underrepresented entrepreneurs to achieve success.”
