PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The LASEC Professional Development Program (PDP) is designed to prepare college juniors, seniors and graduate students for a successful career in the sports industry.  Students gain a competitive advantage as they develop the critical job training and communication skills needed to get hired and thrive in this highly-competitive industry.  The program also includes direct access to a network of sports leaders through a formal mentorship program, interactive industry-specific discussions either virtually or at headquarters/offices, as well as hands-on event experience.  LASEC has a proud history of developing students for careers at the top sports organizations nationwide.

The LASEC Professional Development Program Includes:

  • Professional Development Training – Assistance with resume writing, interview skills; feedback from a Human Relations (HR) leader and other experts on interview and presentation skills; assistance in building a business plan to help position the student for a job after graduation
  • Event Experience – Opportunity to work on a major event (MLB All-Star, MLS All-Star, NFL All-Access and/or LASEC Golf Classic) pending resumption of major gatherings
  • Professional Development Days – Meetings with several sports executives to learn about the different types of jobs that are available in the sports business (PR/Marketing/Communications, Event/Venue Management, Operations, etc.)
  • Mentor Program – Program participants will be assigned a mentor for the duration of the program.  Mentors will represent various sports industry professionals from the Los Angeles area.

This is a paid professional development program.  Students will work 10 hours a week for 6 weeks (June 14 – July 20, 2021).

The program is open to current undergraduate sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. Alumni within one year of graduation are eligible to apply. Transfer students attending an accredited college or university in the upcoming term are eligible to apply.  Students (18 or over) are encouraged to sign up for our Volunteer Academy.
