More than a decade ago, the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) began offering the LASEC Professional Development Program (PDP) to upper division college and graduate students interested in pursuing a career in sports. The program equips students with the tools, training, and industry connections needed to break into and succeed in this highly competitive industry.
As Los Angeles gears up to host a series of major sporting events unmatched by any other destination, LASEC is continuing to invest in the development of the next generation of sports business leaders. Last week, 26 exceptional students from 20 universities around the country had the opportunity to learn from industry executives and gain first-hand experience into the day-to-day operations behind some of the world’s leading events, as Los Angeles prepares to welcome the NBA All-Star Game, U.S. Women’s Open and FIFA World Cup 26™ in the next year.
Program Included:
• Professional Development Training – Resume feedback, interview preparation, and feedback from industry leaders to craft a personalized career development plan designed to position students for success in the job market after graduation.
• Executive Panels – Heard from sports executives who are working on the upcoming major events in areas including public relations and marketing, event/venue management, operations, sponsorship / ticket sales and more.
• Mentorship – Each participant is paired with an LA-based sports industry mentor for six months of guidance and support following the program’s conclusion.
